(August 5, 2021, Beijing, China) -- Recently, Chipone Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (Chipone) announced that it has signed the long-term wafer supply agreement with SilTerra Malaysia Sdn Bhd (SilTerra). As agreed in the agreement, SilTerra will provide Chipone with wafer valued about USD 400 million during the term of the agreement. It further guarantees the long-term supply for customers considering the tight capacity of 8-inch wafer. Chipone, the leading provider of overall solution for display control chips, is the only chip design enterprise with both LCD/OLED display and LED display strategies. The strategic partnership with SilTerra may not only guarantee wafer for Chipone’s power management IC, display driver IC chips, but also lay a solid foundation for Chipone to offer its downstream customers with the optimal products and services. It is believed that the long-term cooperation with SilTerra will dramatically enhance Chipone’s overall ability in severing downstream LED/LCD display customers in terms of operation guarantee, thus further increasing its market share in the field of display chips as a whole.

As we all know, the global wafer foundry capacity keeps contracting, especially that of 8-inch wafer, which imposes continuous impacts on multiple industries. According to the statistics of IC Insights, SilTerra, a foundry of 8-inch wafer, ranks 16th in global pure wafer foundry fields. With widely-recognized processing technologies, ODM design kits and intellectual property rights, SilTerra can provide chip design enterprises with high-quality products. Considering this, SilTerra’s wafer factory has always maintained a high 8-inch wafer production capacity, with great market demands.
